About Iris-Annabel
It is very likely that I am the biggest animal lover there is, but both cats and dogs have a special place in my heart. In addition to a small pomeranian named Masha, I own two cats named Mõmmi (Teddy in Estonian) and Suzy, but I had to leave them in Estonia with my family after moving to London. Although I am only turning 20, I have a lot of experience taking care of animals. I started actively volunteering at my local cat shelter in 2016 and I have fostered cats ever since. I have a small dog at home and I am the only person who my neighbour's dog trusts to pet and approach him because I spent time with him through the fence while he was ignored by his owners as a puppy.
I genuinely believe I have the ability to form a connection with animals, which is so important in providing good care.
Although I have never worked at a dog shelter, I have a lot of love for them and ever since getting my own, I realised how much fun (but also hard work) they are.
As a pet sitter, I would describe myself as very dedicated and determined to make sure your pet is safe and feeling good at all times. Obviously, it is important that they have fun and I love playing and running with both dogs and cats.
I love the outdoors and no weather will stop me from a walk. Although I will not provide off-leash walking to ensure the safety of your dog. I will not walk more than one dog at a time, but if you have two dogs, I can obviously walk them together.
Taking care of rescued cats, many of them being semi-feral, has given me valuable experience and skills such as patience and preservation, when it comes to dealing with animals. I believe that those skills, alongside my experience as a dog owner, are transferable to working with all kinds of different animals.
Some cats at the shelter required daily medical care, which means that I have experience in that area as well. This included mixing medicine into their food, administering pills, and cleaning their eyes or ears. So far, I have offered a foster home for about 20 cats, including nursing mother cats and their kittens. This means that I have experience caring for cats of all ages. My little dog is currently 9 months old and even before getting her, I had experience walking dogs of people I knew.
The reason I'm interested in providing animal care relates to the fact that I greatly miss my pets at home and my landlord doesn’t allow animals, meaning that I can’t foster either. I believe it is a great chance for me to express my unmeasurable amount of love and affection towards animals and I am so excited to shower your pet with cuddles and kisses and to take cute pictures of them to share with you!
I study psychology at KCL and in my free time I like growing plants and volunteering.
