Dog sitting available in a loving family home; lovely big farmhouse with lots of land and private fields for dog walks. The dogs have free range inside the house, and are treated like part of the family. There is always someone at home, so the dogs always have someone to watch them. My mum and dad are also involved in looking after boarding dogs. The farm is surrounded by 6 foot of wide, thick bush, so although it is not gated, it is quite a challenge to get out through the hedges. Generally, new dogs are kept on a leash, and are only let off the lead in securely fenced field, or after we get to know them and trust that they will not run off.
I have a degree in Bioveterinary Science, and am now a fourth year vet student. I have good knowledge of first aid and management of animals, as well as having years of experience, having never lived in a house without a dog. I am very active and take my dog on daily runs/walks, and am able to exercise dogs with a high exercise demand.
My own dogs are a 12 year old female Golden Retriever (who thinks she's about 4!) and a 4 year old male Border Collie. Both are neutered and spayed, and friendly, although the collie does bark excessively when he is excited! Both are yet to not get along with any dog.
Boarding dogs must be up to date with vaccinations, house trained, neutered/spayed and free of major behavioural issues. Any minor behavioural issues needs to be disclosed so we can treat the dog accordingly for our own safety and the safety of yours/my own dogs (e.g. aggression over food or to strangers, etc).
For new clients who wish to book a stay of over a week, we highly recommend booking a trial night/day to ensure the dog is happy here, following a successful meet and greet.
