About Jenna
I am a super confident, capable, and loving pet carer. I have many, many years of experience with dogs of varying sizes, personalities, and habits. I have an adult wirehaired vizsla called Dig.
Dig is a playful, happy dog who loves meeting new friends. If you have a dog who is of a similar nature, then I will let them play together but if your dog is of the more demure disposition, don't fret - Dig is extremely well trained and will give them the space they need. He has a very calming effect on nervous dogs. We have lots of puppy experience and Dig is lovely with them.
Items required for an overnight stay:
- enough food for the duration of their stay
- 1 x food bowl (no water bowl)
- their bed
- collar and lead
Optional/if required:
- medication
- crate
- comfort toy (e.g. teddy)
- hairbrush
The above items will be sufficient as I have plenty of toys and baggies and treats. Please do not overpack for them.
I require a 30 minute meet and greet (free of charge) for all bookings but for boarding longer than 3 nights I also require a trial overnight booking in advance of the longer booking. This is charged at the standard rate but it is important for ensuring your pup is going to be comfortable and have a great time for an extended period.
**IMPORTANT** Please disclose whether your adult dog can be left to sleep quietly in a separate room overnight. They will be accompanied by Dig, however if they suffer from separation anxiety and still bark or whine through the night, I will charge puppy rates regardless of their age. Puppy rates will also be applicable, regardless of their age, if the adult dog is not fully house trained.
**SEPARATION ANXIETY** Separation anxiety is an increasing problem among dogs. Your dog has separation anxiety if they cannot be left in a separate room or at home alone for short periods of time without getting distressed. To a certain extent I am happy to accommodate dogs with separation anxiety but essentially this requires 'constant care' because it makes daily activities difficult. Please be honest about whether your dog suffers separation anxiety. It will attract a higher rate to reflect the intensity of the work involved and the effect on my day to day life - this is the 'constant care' rate. For daycare, if a dog cannot be left for 30 mins in a separate room (with my dog) then constant care rates will be applied. For boarders, if a dog cannot be left at home (with my dog) for 2-3 hours then constant care rates will be applied. These conditions apply to adult dogs, not to puppies (< 1 yr).
** Note re feeding: Feeding times are supervised and dogs are fed in separate areas to ensure everyone eats what they are meant to. If your dog is a self feeder, i.e. leaves their food and picks at it through the day, then we might not be the best option for you. Dig is a greedy boy and I am unable to leave a bowl of food unattended around him.
I have a regular routine of 90 min morning walks and 60 minute afternoon walks, the latter being gentler and including more interactive play than the morning exercise. This is my daily routine with for my dog, different exercise levels will be catered to.
Dogs are allowed downstairs in the living room and kitchen, but not upstairs. There is a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs. They will sleep in the living room with Dig. Fresh water is available at all times. Breakfast is after their first walk and dinner is at 5pm.
