About Oona
I'm a freelance filmmaker and a dedicated & passionate pet sitter from Finland, with years worth of pet caring experience. I grew up out in the country, as the biggest lover of all animals - I was a horseback rider & had three horses, my family had Tibetan Terrier dogs, a beagle, and two cats, who are the loves of my life. I’m also mum to two rabbits Bernie and Joe, but after taking them to spend the summer in Finland, I had to leave them with my family temporarily as bringing them back to the UK turned out to be difficult. So currently none of my pets are living with me, which is why I'm so thrilled about caring for yours - my flat doesn't feel like home without all the joy pets bring!
I have years worth of valuable and unique experience taking care of both domestic & farm animals and working at rescues. I completed an exchange student program in Texas and was placed with a family that had their own animal rescue ranch. They had over dozen horses, goats, dogs & cats including puppies and kittens. Believe or not, we also had an actual Zebra! During my time there, I rode horses, walked their huskies daily, played with the puppies & kittens, and overall helped around the ranch.
The past few years I have also been volunteering at rescue in Mijas, Spain (3-4 times a year) and through this experience, I’m familiar with dogs that might have behavioral issues (e.g. fear of men & children) and trauma. I’m used to building trust with dogs that have been abused, so I know to be patient. Overall I’m very confident & comfortable in handling dogs of all sizes, ages, breeds & personalities.
As a pet mum myself, I understand how incredibly difficult and stressful leaving your baby is. This in mind, my priority is making sure you can trust they're not only in safe & competent hands 24/7, but also being loved when you are away! I always want to ensure I know everything about your pet beforehand - what they like/don't like, what are their favorite activities, their daily schedule and anything else I should take into consideration (special needs, behavioral issues, fears, etc), so that they truly feel like home and you can feel at ease when you are not with them.
